Hiking

Sam and I are going hiking on Thursday. We are going with some other youth from church and their dads to the Sipsey Wilderness Area here in Alabama. We are pretty pumped about our trip. Sam and I have done a lot of car camping, but this will be our first hiking trip together. I have hiked the Red River gorge in Eastern Kentucky and also a portion of the Appalachian trail last spring and I am completely hooked on it. I am hoping Sam will be hooked as well. It looks like we will cover approximately 13 miles this trip. We tried on our gear this morning and Sam was completely freaked about our micro-tent for two. We set it up this morning and climbed in together and he got claustrophobic. It does resemble a casket of sorts which does give one pause.

I am sure you and Sam will have a good time. But, I recently learned the hard way, don't ask too many questions. Jacob had not visited for a week. When he visited Monday, I asked him if he spent the weekend with his cousins. No answer. did you spend the weekend with Papaw Ed? No answer. Did you have fun with Mark and Lilly? No answer. Is Papaw Ed doing ok? He looked at me and said, yes, yes, yes and yes. Don't ask me any more questions. I don't feel like talking. Have fun.

Grandpa, what is up? Are you loosing your touch? Surely not. We are counting down the days until we see you all. We will give you details soon on exactly which day we will be there.

(that's for Thanksgiving in case you have forgotten:)

Love ya,

Time to pass on the "Wild at Heart" tradition to your son. Very nice. The tent will never be as roomy as the fridge box we got for me when we did Shanty Town at WKU. :)

Now that's the kind of bonding I like.
Just being together and enjoying Gods many gifts.
No basketball, no tennis racket, no rules or who got more playing time and why. Just loving and enjoying each other.
Watch over your Dad for me Sam and have a good time.
